I began going to the gym after the birth of my first child in 2004. Through the years I did some personal training with a few different trainers which I found to be helpful but still a little boring and never getting the results that I desired. I then in 2008 met Coach Karen and began training with her. I remember I hated those first workouts. I would be so out of breathe my muscles burned so badly. I didn’t realize until later that is was all so painful for me because I was out of shape. I mean I realized I wasn’t going to set any land speed records or be doing any of those crazy looking pull ups she was doing during her own workouts but, I didn’t consider myself out of shape. Crossfit taught me different! It wasn’t until I got in shape that I realized how much more my body was capable of doing. Shortly after I began Crossfit I learned I was expecting my second child Brayden due in August 2009. By this time I was hooked on Crossfit. I had finally found a way to get the results I wanted from a workout and enjoyed doing it. I continued to workout following Crossfit Mom throughout my pregnancy. Six weeks after the birth of Brayden aka “ Baby Murph” I was back at in the gym and ready to go. I was able to bounce back much quicker this time around, it was all due to Coach Karen and Crossfit. Since that time I have become more involved in Crossfit. I became a coach in April 2010, which I love. I love to watch CFOIB’s athletes do their wods and see the shock and awe on their face when they get their first kipping pull up, double under or a new PR on an Olympic lift. To be completely honest it motivates me to push harder during my own wods. I have seen so many new faces come to Crossfit in the last few years and to be able to be a part of helping to teach and encourage others to become healthier and more confident in themselves has been an honor.
