What  is CrossFit? 

The CrossFit program delivers a fitness that is, by design, broad, general, and inclusive. Our specialty is not specializing. Combat, survival, many sports, and life reward this kind of elite fitness and, on average, punish the specialist.

The CrossFit program is designed for universal scalability, making it the perfect application for any committed individual regardless of experience.  The same routines have been used for elderly individuals with heart disease and cage fighters one month out from televised bouts. We scale load and intensity; we don’t change programs. 

The needs of Olympic athletes and our grandparents differ by degree not kind. Our soldiers, skiers, law enforcement, fire fighters, lawyers, doctors, mountain bike riders, tri-athletes, marathoners, high school football players, gymnasts, and housewives have found their best fitness from the same regimen.

Who are we at CrossFit Ocean Isle Beach?

 

At CrossFit Ocean Isle Beach, we are serious about fitness and we want the same for our athletes.  With that said, we are unlike any other “globo” gym.  We do not have machines for you to sit on; we do not offer a towel service; we do not have contracts; and we do not have initiation fees. We will not leave you without guidance, disappointed, or discouraged.  At CFOIB we offer a program that combines Olympic-style weightlifting, bodyweight exercises, rowing, and gymnastics, with the use of kettlebells, ropes, rings, rowers, and more.

               Each time you walk into our facility, you will be provided with a workout of the day (or WOD for short).We provide the program for you so that you don’t have to think about it.  Our program is specifically designed to ensure that you will become fitter, faster, and stronger. And because our program is constantly varied, you will never adapt and will continue to see amazing results.  We are the core of functional training; we are ELITE FITNESS; we are a TEAM; and we do one thing very well: WE GET RESULTS.  Can your current “globo” gym offer you all that?

Here is an overview of a typical group class:

·        Arrive 15 minutes early, hang up your keys, pet the dog, and say hello to your fellow CrossFitters.

·        Begin your CrossFit Warm Up- Baby elephants, sit ups, push ups, pull ups, squats, jog down the street and back, ect.

·        Your Coach explains the Workout of the Day (WOD) to the class, which consists of a list of exercises for you to complete as quickly as you can while under the watchful eye Coach.

·        Your Coach will ensure that each CrossFitter’s workout is scaled (or modified) to their fitness level and need.

·        The class takes their starting positions and the Coach gives the countdown- 3, 2, 1-GO! This is where the intensity kicks in!

·        Each CrossFitter goes along at their own pace, but keep in mind, the clock is ticking! This is why we call it the sport of fitness!

·        You finish the WOD and yell “TIME!”

·        Your Coach writes your time on the white board next to everyone else for that day's WOD.

·        You pick a spot in front of the fan or you plop down on the floor and catch your breath, drink some water, pet the dog, chat with your fellow CFOIB members and sign up for the next class!
